What gun do you recommend I buy for self-defense?

The limited bandwidth (one trillion terabytes) of this website does not allow us sufficient space to answer this perennial question. This is a highly subjective and hotly debated topic among gun owners.

Our course includes an in-depth discussion on choosing a proper firearm for self-defense, but we are not presumptuous enough to tell you what kind of gun you should get.  We do have classroom guns that you can try out.  In the meantime, read one or both of these articles for starters:
We can tell you this - the firearm most often brought in by students, men and women alike, is a small frame, 5-shot, double action revolver chambered in .38 or .38/.357 magnum, like those pictured here.  These guns are durable, reliable, powerful, concealable, and simple.

Some semi-autos are an excellent choice for a self-defense gun, but there are too many to discuss here. We'll save that discussion for the classroom.
